The application of electric drills

1. Architecture and Industry
Widely applicable for reinforcement of building beams, slabs, columns, walls, decoration, wall installation, brackets, railings, billboards, outdoor air conditioning units, guide rails, satellite receivers, elevators, steel structure factories, and other installations.
2. Medical applications
(1) Dentistry:
In the early 20th century, wall mounted three bend arm dental drills emerged, with speeds of up to 4000r/min, and some even up to 10000r/min. The rope wheel driven three bend arm dental drill rig that we are still widely using is a derivative of it.
(2) Ear department:
Julius Lempert, the father of modern otology, took the lead in using electric drills to perform otologic surgery in New York in 1938 to treat chronic ear diseases and reduce the incidence rate of facial nerve injury. But at that time, the electric drill was difficult to control and had a lot of noise. Modern electric drills and gas drills have greatly increased their rotational speed and enhanced their cutting capabilities. The use of fast cutting drill bits, diamond drill bits, and flushing suction systems enables otologists to quickly complete precise surgical dissections, greatly reducing surgical time.
3. Ocean flexible pole electric drill
A new type of marine drilling equipment, mainly used for coring and sampling of seabed sediments, exploring marine geology and mineral resources. Firstly, it was successfully developed by the French Institute for Petroleum Research (IFP), initially used for drilling 300 meter and 500 meter boreholes on land, and later collaborated with the Soviet Union to drill oil wells up to 3000 meters deep. The first successful sea test was conducted in 1965, with a drilling depth of 2500 meters. ECSM ocean flexible rod coring electric drill is a device that installs flexible rods, electric drills, coring tubes, drill bits, and submersible pumps on the same frame. It is lowered to the seabed with steel wire ropes and powered by the ship's surface through cables for remote drilling. It can drill up to 100 meters at a depth of 500 meters and extract 3.5-inch rock cores. The weight of the machine is about 10 tons.
